RedScrubs Weekly Wrap-up 10-03-08
Well, it’s been a long week with many great changes and a few challenges. Many of you have already noticed that we have begun posting the ‘Top 3’ blogs, news topics, videos and jobs to give our readers even more information and make it easier for readers to get the most information on what is going on in the medical world today - all in one site! We are excited to bring you these changes and additions to the RedScrubs site.
As usual, there have been some great blogs this week, but we managed to choose some clear winners for today’s Scrubbys.
Keep in mind, our top blog winner will continue to receive a free pair of red scrubs from NWscrubs and our nifty “Scrubby Award” logo (seen above) to put on their site or blog post. If you have any comments about the changes, or have a post you would like to submit, please do so here. We love to hear from both our new and loyal readers.

RedScrubs Weekly Wrap-up 9-19-08
Much of my family lives on the Texas coast, where I joined them this past week, as Mother Nature’s fury visited us - not pleasant I assure you! Fortunately for us, we were able to stay for several days at a very dear friend’s house where we had the five basic 21st Century necessities: Running Water, Food, Electricity, Television, and…DSL.
So, between the endless drone of Hurricane Ike coverage, Wall Street woes, and November election speculation on TV, I found my solace in reading some good medical blog posts from MedReader. It’s always a little difficult to choose the top 5 for the week - but here they are for our faithful readers, this weeks Scrubby Awards: Enjoy!

Well folks, the end of summer is drawing near; the Labor Day holiday this week is usually the signal for this year’s warm weather, family vacations. and fun in the sun to draw to a close. Historically, the blogs somewhat slow down during the summer months as well, so the future should be bright for great new posts pretty soon.
Still no shortage of great posts for this week, and here they are - this weeks Scrubby Awards!

RedScrubs Weekly Wrap-up 8-29-2008
Dr. Incognito happens to be on vacation this week, but that doesn’t mean the blogging world stops turning, does it? We finally convinced him that we were more than up to the task of choosing the best medical blogs of the week.
Though it actually turned out to be a little more daunting than we thought (there were a LOT of posts to read!), I think we managed just fine. Hopefully you’ll agree.

I was speaking with a colleague the other day who was telling me that he was being “re-assigned” because his job was being in-sourced. He went on to explain to me that instead of sending the functions out of the country, it was being done by a company in Iowa.
I started thinking about this for a second; is this the future? Will more administrative functions be sent to other organizations within our country instead of abroad? Will we have fewer employees at our companies and more vendors? When I need a procedure, will the Surgeon live in San Francisco and operate remotely?
I just thought his situation was compelling to mention, for we never know what the future may hold. Speaking of compelling, I had better announce the winner before I get outsourced.

RedScrubs Weekly Wrap-up 8-15-2008
I am reflecting on all of the blogs that I have read as of late and feel that the blogging world is changing a bit. When we first started this, there were many Medical Blogs complaining about their dog, job, spouse and car instead of discussing relevant Healthcare issues.
One of the blogs that I remember reading, spoke about how the Blogger stepped on a cat’s tail and he accidentally spilled his coffee. The coffee ruined his pictures and he also had to replace a fried keyboard. While it was entertaining, I did not get anything out of the post that would provide better patient care and/or improve outcomes. I hope that the trend of writing about relevant issues continues.

What do the terms “Night Float”, “Budget”, “Compassionate Health Care”, “Tardiness”, and “NBC” have in common? Well…they happen to be the subjects of our weekly Redscrubs Wrap-Up for this week.
As always, many of these blogs that I love to read each week alternately keep me entertained, engrossed, and/or infuriated - kind of like an online healthcare version of Reader’s Digest, I suppose.
So, congrats to our Scrubby Winner this week, and the other honorees noted in the Wrap-Up. Don’t miss this compelling reading! - Dr. Incognito

The best thing about choosing the Scrubby Winner is that I am able to stay current on the various topics within the Industry. The good thing for you is that you do not have to spend hours doing the research!
I have to admit that this week was a tough one. The number of posts that have exceeded the greatness factor has sky-rocketed and I had the hardest time choosing the winner.
The posts varied from Politics to Malpractice and everything else in between. They were well written and honestly this was not an easy decision.
Feel free to drop us a line and let us know about your favorite blog posts.

Well, the mighty Jalepeno Pepper became an unwitting celebrity amongst bloggers this week as the latest suspect in a string of salmonella outbreaks across the U.S. Medicare and the U.S. health care system also continue to be the rage (sometimes quite literally) among a large number of the blogs I read this week.
I like to dig deep, however, and find those really good posts that others may have missed while perusing only the most topical headlines of the last several days. That said, I think you’ll enjoy this week’s Scrubby Award winners in the RedScrubs Weekly Wrap Up.
