Recently there has been controversy over the use of ADHD medications, specifically in children. Side-effects of these medications include increases in blood pressure, heart rate and other potential cardiovascular risks. Patients with known cardiovascular structural abnormalities or who have family histories of cardiac events should not take stimulant drugs associated with treatment of ADHD according to the FDA.

A doctor explains why children need much more vitamin D daily to stay healthy. According to researchers at the American Academy of Pediatrics the intake should be doubled they say. This is due, they say, because of the increased incidence of rickets. Infants and children may very well need supplements. Low vitamin D also increases risk of heart disease and cancer in later life.

Not uncommon in 6 months to 1 ½ year old children. The baby is listless and not themselves. It is a condition where the intestines telescope inside of themselves causing waves of pain. It is an emergency. Give the baby some fluids and antibiotics. It can often be fixed without surgery. You need a pediatric radiologist and a surgeon available in case other measures do not work. The condition often does not reoccur once resolved.
