Pacemakers in Pediatrics

Placing pacemakers in children is relatively rare. In complete heart block, pacemakers may be necessary. In babies born of mothers with Lupus, there may be cardiac complications in the newborn. There is a risk of sudden death syndrome if pacemakers are not placed when risk factors indicate the need or benefit from its placement. Overall risk factors should be assessed for.
