Healthcare Plays Pivotal Role in November Elections.
If republican presidential hopeful Senator McCain wins the White House in November, our current healthcare system as we know it will go from bad to worse. The tax credit that McCain is proposing would mean that millions of people would be shopping for individual health insurance policies on their own. Employer based group plans which many of us have would end up going by the way side and those millions of people, some 16 million according to some estimates would be out shopping for plans on their own.
Individual health insurance policies are not the same as group policies. There are more rules that apply and many would find out that the cost is very high for the same coverage as they had with their employer. Furthermore many Americans with preexisting medical conditions and those with chronic medical problems would not be given policies by insurance companies. On top of that, those Americans that tip the scales with body fat indexes for more than say 37 – 39 percent wouldn’t even get their foot in the door much less any other part of them – sorry for the satire.
If by some miracle someone with a preexisting or chronic medical condition did get offered a health insurance policy under the McCain plan, the cost would be astronomical and likely unaffordable for that person. Other issues aside in this election, healthcare could very well be the hinge on which the November election rests.
